Here is a larger selection of websites that I visit, some on a regular, some on a not so regular basis. My favourites can be found on the sidebar on the main page. This list is not intended to be exhaustive, but if you think of anything I really should include, please let me know.

Friends and Professionals

An assortment of people I know, people I don’t know, people I’ve met and people I haven’t. Some work in media of one sort or another, some don’t. I think that just about covers it.

  • Mary Stewart A uni friend, and a good ‘un.
  • Vaguely.org A friend of several years likewise trying to make it in the journalism world, although not in the same area.
  • Michelle Jones, photographer My friend and colleague Michelle, who takes the photos for the features I write and does other freelance jobs for the paper I work on.
  • The Telf and friends A judo friend who collaboratively blogs and who links to me, so I link to him.
  • Mimi Chakarova I was fortunate to meet Mimi on a training course I attended in Prague. She gave us a fantastic lecture and was a really interesting speaker. As well as her documentary projects, she lectures in photography at Stanford University.
  • Thea Gilmore I hate the term “singer-songwriter” but she is, and she’s awesome. I came across her music through the unlikely showcase of “Woman’s Hour” on Radio 4 and have seen her live, once, in Cardiff in March 2007.
  • Gary Andrews I think he found me through Chris’ blog originally. Has linked to me in the past and I’m happy to have finally got around to returning the favour.

Humour and Webcomics

  • Shooting War A really well-drawn, well-written comic, set in the not-too-distant future, detailing citizen-generated media at the sharp end, namely, a war zone.
  • Goats It’s been a while since I read this. Surreal, set in a pub, you get the feeling the authors wish their lives were like this.
  • xkcd A bit of a mixed bag, but something for everyone. maths for geeks, science for nerds, language jokes for english dorks.
  • The Onion American online satire magazine.
  • The Surrealist A collection of time-wasting web toys that reduce me to stitches in seconds. Old favourites are the Acronym Liar and The Advertising Slogan Generator.
