I’m Hannah, I’m 24 and I completed my postgraduate diploma in Newspaper Journalism at Cardiff University in June 2007.

In late August 2007, I started work as a trainee at the South Shropshire Journal, a weekly local paper based in Ludlow, Shropshire.

I had wanted to be a journalist for the last few years, and after editing the student website and newspaper at my first university, I took the plunge and applied for vocational training and ended up at Cardiff. I successfully applied for a place on a sub-editing traineeship sponsored by The Sun, but after an enjoyable reporting placement at The Birmingham Mail, I decided I wanted to write my own copy rather than be responsible for proof-reading and laying out someone else’s.

This blog began life as an assignment for the Online Journalism module at Cardiff. Early posts were based around our guest lecturer series, but it also contains my views on current media issues and news. Over time, it’ll hopefully develop into my personal professional page, but obviously with a distinct journalistic leaning.

These are my opinions and comments, no one else’s. They are not intended to be representative of my employers’ opinions and should not be taken as such. I am not writing this as a representative of anyone except myself. Please do not take or re-produce any material on this site without permission.

Unfortunately, WordPress doesn’t appear to have a sarcasm tag, or if it does I haven’t found it. So you may have to take some things with a pinch of salt. Please feel free to comment..
